Game of Thrones wins six Emmy awards!

Tonight the Academy held the Creative Arts Emmys, which gave awards out in various technical categories. Game of Thrones walked away with six statues! This already tops their haul last year of two total wins, and the main ceremony is still to come, where Thrones is up for outstanding drama series and outstanding supporting actor in a drama series.

Tonight’s wins came in the following categories: outstanding makeup (non-prosthetic), outstanding costumes, outstanding art direction, outstanding visual effects, outstanding sound editing and outstanding sound mixing. This was easily the most awards won by one program.

An edited two-hour version of the Creative Arts ceremony will air on Sept. 22 at 8 PM ET on Reelz Channel. The main ceremony airs on Sept. 23 at 7 PM ET on ABC.

Winter Is Coming: Wow. Six Emmys! That is hugely impressive. Congrats to all the hardworking crew who were recognized tonight. You all deserve it. Time to clear off some shelf space at the Paint Hall!

La fantasía medieval "Juego de tronos" encabezó el sábado la lista de ganadores en los Creative Arts Emmys, en una ceremonia que también rindió homenaje a Kathy Bates por encauzar a Charlie Sheen en "Dos hombres y medios" pero que dio la espalda a la favorita de los Emmy "Mad Men".
En una noche que premió a actores invitados, coreógrafos, músicos y editores de las principales series de televisión del año, "Juego de tronos", de la HBO, consiguió seis premios, entre ellos vestuario, maquillaje y efectos visuales especiales.

 

‘Juego de Tronos‘ era una de las series que más nominaciones había conseguido en los aspectos técnicos. Y vaya si triunfó: hasta seis veces tuvo que subir el equipo de la serie a recoger la estatuilla, convirtiéndose en la primera producción que gana tantos galardones en una misma noche dentro de los Creative Arts Emmys. Mejores efectos visuales, mejor edición de sonido, mejor vestuario y mejor dirección artística fueron varias de las categorías en las que ésta fue elegida. ¿Será una predicción de lo que viviremos el próximo domingo, ya con las categorías principales en juego?

 

 

Game of Thrones wins Hugo Award

 

The Hugo Awards ceremony was held last night at this year’s Worldcon in Chicago and Game of Thrones took home a statue! The Hugos are a prestigious set of awards given annually for the best science fiction or fantasy works and achievements of the previous year. This was the first year that Game of Thrones was eligible. It was nominated in the category Best Dramatic Presentation, Long Form, alongside the films Captain America, Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 2, Hugo and Source Code. Ron Donachie and George R. R. Martin were on hand to accept the award, on behalf of HBO. Video provided by Tower of the Hand.
